Sep 19 2017MVP, CY YOUNG OR BOTH
As the Indians hit the west coast this week (gonna stay up late?), there isn't much left to prove. Yes, the Tribe wants the best record in baseball. They lead the Astros by 1 1/2 games, they trail the Dodgers by four. Besides that there's individual honors that the team probably doesn't care about. When you're playing the Angels there's always talk about Mike Trout, the game's best player on a truly average team. He won't win the MVP award. Then there's the debate about pitchers, like Corey Kluber, winning the MVP when they play every fifth day. Jose Ramirez bats about 650 times, Kluber faces more than 700 batters. So there's that. But the Klubot will not be MVP. Here's the picks: Houston's Jose Alyuve for MVP, Ramirez second. But Kluber is undoubtedly going to win the Cy Young Award. That'll make him smile?! Not really.
