Akron woman sentenced to prison for causing deadly crash

A drunk driver who was going the wrong way on I-76 in Akron was sentenced to 6 to 9 years in prison after she was found guilty of causing a crash that killed a Canton woman. 23 year old Jessica Skinner, of East Market Street in Akron, also had her driver’s license suspended for the rest of her life at a sentencing hearing yesterday. On August 2nd, Skinner pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and OVI for the accident, which left her paralyzed from the waist down. 41 year old Lisabeth Dayton died following the head-on crash on May 12th, 2022. Dayton, who was head chef at Ray’s Place in Kent, was heading home, traveling on I-76 west near Innovation Way, when the crash occurred. Prosecutor’s say Skinner’s blood alcohol level was more than 3 times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
