3 Akron men sentenced in connection with murder of pregnant woman

Three Akron men were sentenced Monday for their roles in the death of a pregnant woman last year. Prosecutor’s say, Teyarra Harris, mother of 2 children and expecting a baby at the time of her death, was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight on Rockaway Street in Akron’s Summit Lake neighborhood. On April 14th, 2022, around 730pm, Harris was a passenger in a car traveling in the 1400 block of Rockaway Street when a shootout between 2 groups of people took place. Authorities say, at least 30 rounds from 3 different guns were fired, with one of those rounds entering the car and striking Harris. Judge Alison McCarty sentenced 20 year old Darrion Rackley, of 11th Street in Akron, to 34 to 39 and a half years in prison, 17 year old Antonil Whitaker, of Johnson Court, in Akron, to 20 to 24 years in prison, and 22 year old Jeremiah Williams, of Amherst Street, in Akron, to 20 to 24 years in prison for their roles in the killing. Four others involved in the shooting have been sentenced or will be sentenced soon.
