The National Weather service has teams on the ground to determine how many tornadoes actually touched down Wednesday evening. According to the Portage County Emergency Management Agency, a tornado touched down in Windham Township in the area of Bryan Road, Route 82, the Ohio Turnpike, and Parkman. Windham officials said they are assessing damage to their area and are also investigating why the tornado siren did not sound. Windham Exempted Village Schools were all closed on Thursday due to the storms. Heavy damage was reported, debris littering the streets, trees and power lines down, and siding ripped off homes. No injuries were reported. Portage County Health District teams are assessing the damage to septic tanks and wells.
