So it was announced that the Cleveland Browns will be moving from downtown Cleveland to Brook Park to build a new dome stadium that will open in 2029. Now there are many fans who are upset that the team is leaving the Lakefront or that the new stadium will not be an open air stadium. I am not one of them. Renovating that stadium downtown would not have solved all the issues. Also I’m all for the dome. We can host a Super Bowl or the Final Four or so many other big time events once the dome is built. Seven of the last nine new stadiums in the NFL are domes or retractable roof stadiums. The Tennessee Titans and the Chicago Bears are both building domes and now the Browns. This is the way to get the most bang for your buck as an NFL owner. There will always be the diehards that want to sit out in the snow and 20 below weather to watch a game in December. But the times are changing and many more people would look to go knowing weather will not be a factor. And instead of using the stadium 12 to 15 times a year, it can be used for 100’s of events year round. Time for Cleveland to come into the future and the Haslams decided to do that with a dome in Brook Park. We all have 5 years to get used to that before it becomes reality.
