University of Akron, other colleges receive money to improve security

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is giving $7.5 million to 28 colleges and universities, including the University of Akron, to fund security projects. According to DeWine, money would be used to purchase items such as security cameras, lighting, portable surveillance trailers ,drones, and more. The grant awards are part of the Campus Safety Grant Program. To be eligible for the funding, the schools conducted a security and vulnerability assessment.
