Warming centers have been set up for people to get out of the frigid cold as temperatures drop into the single digits with wind chills 15 to 25 degrees below zero.

The City of Akron has announced extended hours for the Summit Lake Community Center to serve as a warming center. The Summit Lake Community Center will operate between 8am and 7pm Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week. In addition, the emergency Overnight Shelter, 111 E. Voris Street, is open every night from 7pm to 8am, through Wednesday. The shelter will provide food, shelter, and clothing.
