A former doctor, Mahmud Kara, of Hudson, is expected to be sentenced this week after being found guilty last year of rape and sexual battery charges by a Summit County jury. According to the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office, the charges stem from an incident that happened 2023, when Kara sexually assaulted a young woman at his home on Fox Trace Lane. Authorities say, in April, 2023, Kara went to dinner with the young female and 2 others before returning to his house. After everyone left except for Kara and the victim, prosecutors say, Kara sexually assaulted her. He faces a maximum potential prison term of 11 to 16 and a half years in prison.
