Jim Tressel selected by DeWine as new Lt. Governor

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is nominating for Ohio State Buckeyes coach and Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel as the state’s next Lt. Governor. at a news conference Monday, DeWine called Tressel “a natural leader” who will ably succeed john Husted, whom DeWine tapped to fill the US Senate seat left open by JD Vance’s election as Vice President. DeWine said Tressel’s background in education and workforce development helped him make the decision. Tressel has strong NE Ohio ties, graduating from Berea High School and playing football for his father Lee at Baldwin-Wallace. He received a Master’s in education from the University of Akron in 1977. He retired a year and a half ago as President at YSU. He coached the buckeyes from 2001 to 2010, with the team winning the National Championship in 2002. He was head coach at Youngstown State from 1986 to 2000.
