With influenza remaining at high levels in NE Ohio, a new update from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health shows that 22 people have died from flu-related illness so far this season, including 2 children. It comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists Ohio as one of multiple states at the highest level of flu activity as of it’s latest report for the week ending March 1st. Nationwide, rates are the highest they have been since the 2009-2010 season. The CDC estimates that there have been at least 33 million flu-related illnesses, 430,000 hospitalizations, and 19,000 deaths during this current flu season.
