Portion of highway named after fallen firefighter

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine helped honor a local hero when he officially signed a bill to name a portion of I-90 after fallen firefighter Johnny Tetrick, who died in the line of duty on November 19th 2022, when he was hit by a car driving illegally around barriers on the highway while assisting at the scene of an earlier crash. The driver of the vehicle, Leander Bissell is currently serving a 16 year prison sentence. Last month, the Ohio General Assembly unanimously passed House Bill 107, which will designate the stretch of I-90 between East 72nd Street and East 105th Street where Tetrick was killed as ” Cleveland Firefighter Johnny Tetrick Memorial Highway.”
