A new report shows the number of murders went down slightly in the city of Akron in 2024 compared to 2023. Data from the Akron Police Department reveals there were 25 murder victims in 2024, compared to 26 the year before. It’s still a sharp decline from recent years, with 43 murders in 2022 and 42 in 2021. November was the deadliest month for the city, with 5 murders reported. There are 9 cases still under investigation. Detectives are still searching for suspects in the mass shooting on June 2nd during a house party on Kelly Avenue. One person was killed and 29 others injured. Still no suspects more than 6 months later.
